 Best of Zanzibar Safari

Zanzibar Island, an idyllic tropical paradise off the coast of East Africa, offers a wealth of experiences that promise to captivate and delight visitors. The Best of Zanzibar package provides a comprehensive exploration of the island’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and unique biodiversity, ensuring an unforgettable adventure filled with diverse activities and discoveries.

Your adventure begins with a comprehensive tour of Stone Town, the historical heart of Zanzibar City. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for its labyrinthine streets, intricately carved wooden doors, and vibrant market scenes. As you wander through the narrow alleys of Stone Town, you’ll encounter a captivating blend of Swahili, Arab, Persian, and European influences that reflect the island’s rich cultural tapestry.

The tour includes visits to significant landmarks such as the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Sultan’s Palace. Each site offers a glimpse into Zanzibar’s storied past, from its days as a bustling trade hub to its role in the Swahili Coast’s history. You’ll also explore the lively Forodhani Market, where local vendors offer a colorful array of fresh produce, spices, and handcrafted goods, providing a sensory feast and a chance to engage with the island’s vibrant community.

Next, embark on a boat trip to Prison Island, a small island with a fascinating history. Originally used as a place of detention for rebellious slaves and later as a quarantine station, the island now serves as a sanctuary for giant tortoises. These ancient reptiles, some of which are over a century old, roam freely in their natural habitat, offering a unique opportunity to observe and interact with these gentle giants.

The island’s history is as intriguing as its wildlife. A guided tour will reveal stories of the prison’s past and its transition to a conservation haven. You can also enjoy the stunning views of the turquoise waters surrounding the island and relax on the white sandy beaches.

Your exploration continues with a visit to the Jozani Forest, Zanzibar’s only national park. This lush rainforest is a treasure trove of biodiversity, home to a variety of endemic species and exotic flora. A guided tour through the forest provides an immersive experience in one of the island’s most pristine natural environments.

One of the highlights of Jozani Forest is the chance to encounter the rare red colobus monkeys, a species endemic to Zanzibar and known for their distinctive red and white fur. These playful primates are a joy to observe as they leap through the canopy and interact with their environment. In addition to the colobus monkeys, you may spot other wildlife such as bush babies, various bird species, and unique plant life.

No visit to Zanzibar is complete without experiencing the island’s famed spice trade. The Spice Farm Tour offers an aromatic journey through the island’s spice plantations, where you can learn about the cultivation and uses of a variety of spices including cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla.

Guided by knowledgeable local experts, you’ll discover the historical significance of spices in Zanzibar’s trade and cultural heritage. The tour includes opportunities to taste and smell the fresh spices, gaining insight into how they are harvested and processed. This sensory experience is both educational and delightful, highlighting the role of spices in Zanzibari cuisine and culture.

The adventure culminates with a Dolphin Tour, a thrilling opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. The tour takes you to the waters off the southern coast of Zanzibar, where you can observe bottlenose and humpback dolphins as they swim and play in the wild.

Guided by experienced marine guides, you’ll have the chance to see dolphins leaping and splashing in the waves, and if conditions allow, you may even have the opportunity to snorkel alongside them. This exhilarating experience provides a close-up view of the dolphins’ graceful movements and natural behaviors, adding a magical touch to your island adventure.

The Best of Zanzibar package offers a rich and varied experience that encompasses the island’s cultural, historical, and natural wonders.
