Safari Overview

Untamed Wilderness

Untamed Wilderness is a journey through Kenya’s Pristine Landscapes. Samburu National Reserve is a treasure trove of natural beauty and cultural richness. This semi-arid park, located in northern Kenya, is renowned for its unique wildlife and the stunning backdrop of Buffalo Springs. The meandering Ewaso Ngiro River, which runs through the reserve, provides a lifeline for a variety of wildlife, making it an excellent spot for unforgettable wildlife encounters. Here, you can spot rare species such as the Reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, Gravy’s zebra, and the Gerenuk, often referred to as the “Samburu Special Five.”

But Samburu is not just about wildlife. The reserve is a cultural melting pot, home to indigenous communities like the Samburu, Borana, and Rendille. These tribes, with their vibrant traditions and customs, enrich the Samburu landscape. Visitors have the unique opportunity to engage with these communities, gaining insights into their ancient way of life, intricate social structures, and deep-rooted connections to the land. Whether it’s participating in traditional dances, learning about their beadwork, or understanding their pastoral lifestyle, the cultural experiences in Samburu are as rewarding as the wildlife encounters.

Aberdare National Park, nestled within the Aberdare Mountain Range in central Kenya, offers a sanctuary brimming with diverse flora and fauna. This park is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The lush forests echo with the calls of olive baboons and black and white colobus monkeys, while the grasslands host magnificent herds of buffalos, warthogs, and bushbucks.

Visitors to Aberdare can indulge in a variety of immersive activities. Picnics beside the park’s picturesque waterfalls, trout fishing in the clear mountain streams, and camping amidst the pristine wilderness provide a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The park also shelters rare species such as the elusive Giant Forest hog, golden cat, and serval cats, making it a must-visit for wildlife enthusiasts.

Lake Naivasha, located in the Great Rift Valley, invites exploration through tranquil boat rides and guided nature walks on Crescent Island. This freshwater lake is a hub of biodiversity, home to a plethora of bird species and other wildlife. The calm waters of Lake Naivasha are perfect for boat rides, where visitors can enjoy close encounters with hippos and a variety of bird species such as African fish eagles, pelicans, and cormorants.

Crescent Island, a private sanctuary within the lake, offers guided nature walks that bring you up close to the resident wildlife. Zebras, giraffes, waterbucks, and various antelope species roam freely on the island, providing an “Out of Africa” experience. The island’s serene environment and stunning views make it an ideal spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts alike.

During the migration, millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles traverse the plains in search of greener pastures, closely followed by predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs, creating one of nature’s most dramatic events.

The Maasai Mara is also home to the “Big Five” – lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos. Early morning and late afternoon game drives offer the best opportunities to observe these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. The reserve’s vast savannahs and rolling hills provide the perfect backdrop for spotting a variety of other wildlife, including hyenas, jackals, and an array of bird species.

In addition to its wildlife, the Maasai Mara offers rich cultural experiences. Visitors can interact with the Maasai people, learning about their traditions, customs, and way of life. The Maasai are known for their distinctive dress, intricate beadwork, and remarkable knowledge of the land and its wildlife. Participating in a traditional Maasai dance or visiting a Maasai village can provide deeper insight into this fascinating culture.

In conclusion the Untamed Wilderness safari package in Kenya promises a blend of some of the most authentic and rare experiences, from the cultural richness of Samburu to the tranquil beauty of Aberdare, the waterside wonders of Lake Naivasha, and the unrivaled wildlife spectacles of the Maasai Mara.
