Eka Hotel
Where Your Kenya Safari Begins and Ends in Comfort
Most Kenya safaris begin and end in Nairobi. The question is always the same: where do you stay when the flight lands late, or when the itinerary calls for an early morning departure to Wilson Airport for the connection into the Mara or Amboseli? The answer, for a growing number of well-travelled guests passing through the Kenyan capital, is Eka Hotel.
Set along Mombasa Road at the intersection with the Southern Bypass, Eka occupies one of the most logistically sensible addresses in the city — under fifteen minutes from JKIA via the Nairobi Expressway, fifteen minutes from Wilson Airport, and adjacent to Nairobi National Park, whose 117 square kilometres of savannah begin almost at the hotel’s fence line. It is a location that turns a transit night into a genuine opportunity: an afternoon game drive in the park, an early breakfast before the domestic flight, or simply a comfortable, well-serviced room after fourteen hours in the air.
The hotel itself is contemporary and clean-lined — 167 air-conditioned, soundproofed rooms across several categories, two restaurants, a 24-hour coffee shop, an outdoor pool with sun loungers, a gym, the Jasmine spa, and five conference and meeting rooms. The staff are consistently praised for warmth and efficiency, and the operations run with the reliability that transit guests and business travellers depend on. For ATE clients building a Kenya itinerary, Eka is a dependable, comfortable, and well-positioned opening or closing chapter.
Sitting on Mombasa Road between JKIA and Wilson Airport, Eka Hotel Nairobi is the natural stopover for safari travellers. Contemporary and well-run, it removes the friction from long-haul travel and puts you in the right place for whatever comes next.

Rooms & Accommodation
Eka Hotel’s 167 rooms are designed around three principles that matter most to a safari gateway hotel: comfort after long travel, reliable technology, and enough space to genuinely decompress. All rooms are air-conditioned and soundproofed — a meaningful detail on Mombasa Road — and finished in a clean, contemporary style with earthy tones and good-quality linens.
Standard Superior rooms are efficiently sized at 20 square metres, with king or twin configurations, LCD flat screens with DSTV, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, a personal minibar, in-room coffee and tea facilities, rain shower, hairdryer, iron and board, and a safety deposit box. Triple rooms accommodate three guests comfortably, and two rooms are equipped for guests with mobility requirements.
The Junior Suite steps up to 50 square metres, with a separate bedroom, a sitting area with a dedicated work space, and a bathroom fitted with both a bathtub and a rain shower — the right choice for guests arriving from or returning to long-haul destinations who want room to breathe. Three Executive Suites offer the highest level of in-room comfort the hotel provides, with additional living space, dual televisions, and butler-standard finishing.

Junior Suite
50 sq m with a separate bedroom and sitting area, dedicated work space, and a full bathroom with bathtub and rain shower. Suited to guests wanting more room after long-haul travel, or those spending more than one night in Nairobi.

Dining
Eka Hotel runs two distinct dining operations plus a 24-hour coffee shop — a combination that makes it unusually practical for safari travellers operating on unusual schedules.
The Galaxy Restaurant is the main dining room, serving a well-regarded breakfast buffet alongside an all-day à la carte menu of Kenyan and international dishes. Poolside breakfast is available in good weather, and the kitchen accommodates dietary requirements without difficulty. The 24-hour coffee shop keeps things running for early departures, late arrivals, and anyone who needs a decent flat white at an hour when the rest of the city is still asleep. For something more informal, the Spur Restaurant on-site is a reliable option for relaxed evening meals, known for its carveries and seafood.
The bar deck — extended and well-stocked — is a natural end to a Nairobi evening, and room service runs around the clock for guests who’d rather not move after a long flight.

Best Time to Visit
| As a Nairobi city hotel, Eka is open year-round and relevant in every season — its appeal is defined by location and logistics rather than wildlife calendars. The best time to visit depends entirely on where in Kenya your safari takes you next. If you are beginning or ending a Great Migration itinerary, the July to October window is when Eka most commonly features as the departure or arrival point for Maasai Mara-bound travellers. For Amboseli or Tsavo itineraries, the dry seasons of January to March and June to October offer the most rewarding game viewing. Nairobi itself is pleasant year-round, with a temperate highland climate that rarely reaches extremes in either direction. The long rains of April and May bring green landscapes and lower visitor volumes but do not meaningfully affect a city hotel stay. |
