The Naboisho Conservancy holds a specific position in the Maasai Mara ecosystem — 50,000 acres of prime wildlife habitat set aside by Maasai landowners in community partnership with conservation operators, with one of the lowest vehicle-to-land ratios of any conservancy in the region. Hemingways Ol Seki Mara Camp occupies its centre: ten suites arranged along a seasonal river under a canopy of acacia, with open plains rolling south toward the Mara Triangle and wildlife moving through the camp’s perimeter at hours that have nothing to do with scheduled game drives.

The distinction between this conservancy and the Maasai Mara National Reserve, which lies within reach, is structural rather than cosmetic. In the national reserve, night drives are prohibited, off-road tracking is not permitted, and the vehicle density at significant sightings can reduce even a lion kill to a logistical exercise. In Naboisho, none of these constraints apply. Ol Seki’s guides can follow a leopard off the road, hold a position beside a lion pride as the sun drops, or spend an hour with a cheetah at a distance that requires patience rather than a long lens. For guests who have been to the Mara before, this recalibrates the experience entirely.

In the 50,000-acre Naboisho Conservancy, Ol Seki offers night drives, off-road tracking, and guided walks unavailable in the national reserve — shared with fewer than a hundred guests. Ten suites, great food, and prime Migration access.

Why Stay Here

  • Night drives, off-road tracking, and walking safaris — all unavailable in the national reserve.
  • One of the Mara's lowest vehicle-to-land ratios — wildlife without the crowds
  • Prime Migration corridor — river crossings July–October, grazing herds year-round.
  • Fully all-inclusive: meals, drinks, game drives, walks, and laundry.
  • Hemingways Collection — one of Kenya's most trusted luxury safari operators.
  • Two family suite configurations — among the Mara's most practical family setups.
Our Commitment to Conservation

Ol Seki operates within Naboisho, a community-owned conservancy where camp lease fees directly fund the 500-plus Maasai landowning families and the anti-poaching operations protecting the ecosystem. The model — land withdrawn from agriculture, revenue flowing back to the community — is among the most replicated conservation structures in the Mara.

Rooms & Accommodation

Ten tented suites are positioned independently along the seasonal Olare River — eight luxury suites and two family suites — each with a private plunge pool and deck oriented toward open conservancy ground. The camp’s design sits within the tradition of classic East African safari architecture: canvas walls, hardwood decking, and natural materials throughout, with interiors finished to a standard that removes any residual roughness from the tented format. King-size beds under mosquito nets, indoor and outdoor showers, copper fittings, and handcrafted East African furnishings give each suite its own character rather than the replicated look of a hotel corridor. Every tent is positioned to give unobstructed sightlines across open ground; privacy between suites is maintained by woodland screening and careful spacing along the riverbank.

Dining

The Ol Seki kitchen operates on a farm-forward principle — produce, dairy, and eggs sourced from the Hemingways group’s network of Kenyan suppliers, with the menu recalibrated daily around what arrives fresh and what the group wants to eat. Meals are served in three settings: the main dining room beside the river, the open boma for evening dinners under the conservancy’s unfiltered sky, or in the field — a bush breakfast at the base of an acacia as the morning drive draws to a close, or a sundowner spread on an open plain. The wine list reflects the broader Hemingways hospitality operation: a considered selection from South Africa and Europe, served by staff who know the cellar.

Best Time to Visit

Ol Seki and the Naboisho Conservancy offer productive game viewing year-round, with resident lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, and buffalo present in every season. The peak migration period — July to October — brings the greatest wildlife density and access to the Mara River crossings; this period carries the highest demand and rates. January and February deliver excellent predator activity on short grass with significantly fewer visitors than migration months. The long rains of April and May produce vivid green landscapes, dramatic skies, and the most accessible rates of the year. Minimum stays apply during the festive period.
